It was an earring kind of day
I made approximately 5000 pairs of earwires today. OK, maybe I'm exaggerating but it sure felt like 5000. It was probably more like 50. But still, that's a lot, right?
I've been making more one-of-a-kind earrings lately and I'm having quite a bit of fun with them. Usually I work with the same designs and if they sell I make a million more just like them (yep, I'm in the exaggerating mood) but I need to mix things up a bit. Below is a little sample of what I've been up to. The little turquoise hoops are part of my regular line-up but the other three pairs are true one offs.
I'm curious to hear what you guys think of one-of-a-kinds. Are you more likely to purchase something if you know that there won't be another like it?

I like to pick a pattern and then do riffs on them. You could do that since you likely have the same component in a multitude of colors. I think they are really pretty. That last one is cool with the sort of geometric pattern.
Enjoy the day!

I'm sure I can't be counted on to be the norn but I almost always buy one of a kind or at the very least 2 of a kind, when it comes to hand made jewelry. I don't want to run into Dolly Dollwood wearing the exact pair of earrings as I am!! :) I also have that artist's superstition that a tiny bit of the artist's soul is placed in their creations. So if you are making a kigillion (small exaggeration)of the same piece I wonder if the same love and bit of soul that was placed in the first pair has faded with the growing mound of "similars" :( But then that's just me and as I said I have never been accused of being part of the norm :)

And Erin, the earwires are super easy to make - just ball the end of a piece of sterling wire and then hammer the ball flat! :)
That's the joy of Etsy though, I figure if I buy something, no one else will have it at least in my area, so it's still OOAK :)
You have lovely jewelry pieces! Happy Labor Day!
