Showcase 500 Beaded Jewelry
A little while ago I received notice that a necklace I made will appear in the forthcoming Lark publication, Showcase 500 Beaded Jewelry: Photographs of Beautiful Contemporary Beadwork. I'm pretty excited, the say the least, seeing as how Lark is one of my favorite publishers. Their books are nothing short of edible; a veritable feast for the eyes!
The necklace I created is one of those Everything but the Kitchen Sink kind of deals. I went a little crazy.
The main focus of the piece was created using some free form porcelain pieces I made a while ago. I saw the Green Girl Studios butterflies at BeadFest last summer and knew exactly how I wanted to use them. They have a bunch of tiny holes along the bottom which were screaming out to have clusters of seed beads attached. So I listened to them.
The rest of the necklace is comprised of various glass and natural stone beads. I linked them all together with copper wire. I just love a good linky chain!
Showcase 500 Beaded Jewelry: Photographs of Beautiful Contemporary Beadwork comes out in August and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Just take a look at the cover! I can't wait to see what's inside!
