I wish my eyebrow would stop twitching

I am often hard on myself for always waiting until the last minute to do things that have deadlines. I beat myself up over the self-inflicted stress and I believed, until very recently, that if I were to become one of those plan ahead people that my life would somehow fall neatly into place and peace would abound. Not true. So not true.

You may recall a while ago that I received some gorgeous beads in the mail from Anne of Gardanne Beads. Prior to that I had received some fabulous beads from Cindy Gimbrone. I knew that I wanted to somehow use these beads in something that might be considered for publication, so I sat down and I planned. I drew up ideas and came up with designs that made me giddy. I sat in the studio and made custom porcelain pieces that would coordinate perfectly with the glass beads. I bisqued them, I glazed them, I fired them... and they sucked. They just weren't going to do it for me. I no longer liked the ideas I had come up with, I no longer liked the colors I had chosen. It all stunk. Several weeks of planning was all for nothing and I was out of time.

The resulting two necklaces that you see here were made in the past 24 hours. I had to overnight them to California so that I would make the submission deadline. I am pleased as punch with how them came out. My nerves are shot and my eyebrow hasn't stopped twitching but they are done and gone and maybe, if I'm lucky, they will be published. So, no more planning ahead for this freak of nature. It just wastes time. :)

I stopped fighting that fight a long time ago I'm a last minute person and I like you seem to produce the best of myself under serious pressure.

I love both pieces but my very favourite has got to be the second one.

PS Cool news, I finally received my Amazon order so I'll be taking the book along to the beach this weekend, maybe I can get to a point where I begin to have a few ideas for my piece of jewelry. Although unless you place a project deadline on us being another 11th hour freakazoid I'll not get it started early!! :)

You know, I'd bet that someone else would LOVE the beads you think sucked! We jewelry folk are so hard on ourselves, aren't we?

Some people work better under pressure. I hate deadlines, yet work surprisingly better under them.

And girl, my eyebrows are wore out. I feel like I should get botox or something to have some kind of relief. My eyebrows are about to twitch themselves right off my face one of these days. I discovered that someone hacked my bank account and charged over a $1000 worth of hoochie clothes and spa treatments!

By the way, your pieces look fab. I am sure that any publication would be lucky to feature them.

Gorg as always....and the eyebrow twitching is a result of lack of sleep. This I know first hand!! :)

Oh my gosh Nancy. I am overwhelmed with your designs, and so flattered that you picked my glass beads as a part of the design.
Speaking of twitching, I had a twitchy eye a while back and went to the doctor. She said it was a combination of menopause and having a 15 year old daughter. Now that your submissions are in the mail maybe it will settle down.

Funny how you can plan and p.l.a.n. and, nothing. And then, voila, it clicks without any planning.
Of course, d-e-a-d-l-i-n-e-s do have a way of inspiring you real quick!

Hope to see these in print.

Thanks for all the kind and sweet comments everyone! I am glad to know that I am not alone in my last minuteness. It's nice to know that there are other creative souls who just are nuts as I am. :)

I am seriously in love with the necklace in the top image. I think it's my favorite that you've ever made. I hear you on the twitching thing, btw. No fun. Let's get garlic knots sometime! Email me. xo, Abbey

As usual, Nancy you hit it out of the park! Love how you've combined three different artist beads into real stunners!

I wish I worked well under pressure, unfortunately, I usually just twitch and never make it to the post office!
