Random oldies

As I finish up preparations for my show on Sunday and get ready to attend a pottery workshop with the fabulous Sandi Pierantozzi tomorrow I will leave you with a few of my latest vintage photo acquisitions. (click for the close-up)

Above is perhaps one of the best antique images ever! Why? It has baby bunnies, that's why! Despite the fact the children look less than thrilled to be having their photo taken this image is one of my favorites. I love the composition - the way the older woman is looking at the bunny in the young girl's hand, the two girls staring straight into the camera and the boy looking off to the side. What do you think the girl on the right is holding in her hand? An eyeglass case?

The photos above and below are not what most people would consider to be "good" photos. The man reading the newspaper is blurry (and yet the porch railing to the left is in perfect focus). This image strikes me as a true candid shot probably taken quickly before the subject knew what had happened. The whole scene makes you wonder what he was reading about.

This man has no head. But who cares. He is tall and lean, his body in alignment with the fence post, his pipe echoing the length of his torso. I just love it! Not to mention his sweater. I want one of those. :)

What interesting photos..When I see them, I always wonder what their life was like..but I guess that is what old photos do..gets one thinking.
I would love to make a painting out of that first photograph. It's incredible.
I hope you post more vintage photos, these are awesome!

I just love old photos and these are wonderful! Especially the first one with the children. I am lucky to have a ton of old photos from my family which I cherish.

Oh, I just adore old photos. Those are lovely! I find myself lost in old albums of people I have no connection to, but I feel a connection to the past. Great post!
I didn't notice the bunnies until you mentioned it! Great photo btw.
Vintage photos are one of my "things," I love them ! Nice blog by the way.
