Closed Thread

I started a thread in the Etsy forums this past weekend, something I rarely do. Frustration with Etsy's lack of interest in responding to flagging or convos drove me to the forums to hopefully get some attention for a serious problem. Instead, Rob White, in all his cut and paste from the handbook wisdom, shut the thread down without addressing the issue at all. From what I understand this is typical behavior of Etsty admin. What it truly is is disrespectful to the people who work hard to make Etsy successful, the artists and the buyers who are deceived into believing that they are buying something handmade.

Here is a link to the closed thread.

And here are links to the two shops I was referring to. The first one is here - I have been flagging this shop for over a year. The second shop is here - selling the exact same ring.

I did too! It seems as though etsy could at least create a market place that is separate from the handmade...

Thanks for your diligence; I stopped selling on etsy and only sell at my own online shop; we run into this Chinese cheap import porcelain issue at all of the shows we attend; hard to keep your cool; getting undercut by very low quality and prices. One strategy that is particularly irritating is to say designed in US.. when all the boxes are clearly marked Made in China.Making porcelain one little piece at a time is hard work and art not gross manufacturing. Oh well again thanks for your efforts.

thanks for sharing! I can't believe they try to pass it as their own.

I recognize the girl from Spain. She had a supplies shop in which she was selling what she claimed to be vintage supplies, but I knew they weren't. In one of her listings she had some of the same findings I bought at the dollar store. I flagged the listing, but the shop was still there a few weeks later.

I just searched for it, but there's no trace of it to be found. I guess Etsy shut it down. Maybe they're in the process of finally shutting down the shop you flagged.

I know it was her, because in all her listings in the supplies shop she claimed she had found the goods at a Spanish antiquarian. I saw one listing in the shop you flagged in which she claimed some of the components came from a Spanish antiquarian.
